Is poker legal in Hong Kong?

Hong Kong's Gambling Ordinance (Cap. 148) makes gambling unlawful unless it takes place through the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which holds the only licences for horse racing, football betting and the Mark Six lottery, or falls under a narrow exemption for social gambling in private premises where nobody takes a cut. There is no licence for a poker club or an online poker site, and betting with an unauthorised operator — including an overseas website — is itself an offence for the bettor, not only the operator. In practice enforcement has focused on illegal bookmakers and gambling dens rather than individuals playing online, and the offshore sites listed here accept Hong Kong players with Hong Kong dollar deposits. Where Hong Kong players play live

The simple answer is Macau, an hour away by ferry or bridge, where casinos are legal and the Wynn poker room and periodic APPT and Triton stops have hosted the region's biggest games.
