Frequently asked questions

Is match poker the same game as the Texas Hold'em dealt in a poker room?

No. Match poker duplicates the same hands across competing teams so that every team plays identical cards. IFMP says the format is designed to maximise skill and remove the elements of luck and gambling.

Do players buy in to match poker events?

IFMP states that match poker prize pools are sponsored rather than funded by buy-ins, and describes that as moving the sport further away from the link with gaming and gambling.

What is the biggest event the arena has hosted?

The 2023 Asian Nations Cup, held there from 24 to 27 February 2023 with a listed guaranteed prize pool of HK$100,000 and the top four national teams qualifying for the world championship finals in Zurich.
