Blackrock Casino is Tsogo Sun's property in Newcastle, in the north of KwaZulu-Natal. It is one of the few casinos in the group whose own gaming page names poker among its table games.

Table hours

The operator gives table opening times of 14:00 to 02:00 Monday to Thursday and 12:00 to 04:00 Friday to Sunday.

What is dealt

The gaming page lists poker, roulette and blackjack. A separate private bar serves guests in the casino.

The caveat worth reading

South African casino floors frequently list "poker" when the game is dealer-banked - Raise 'Em Poker and similar house games appear at several properties in the same group. Blackrock's page does not say which it means. If the point of the trip is a cash game or a tournament against other players, phone ahead and ask specifically whether the poker is player-versus-player and whether tables run on the day you plan to arrive.
