We audited every market against the poker rooms' own terms. Twelve were wrong
Poker rooms publish lists of countries they will not accept, and those lists are longer than most players realise. We checked all 141 of our market pages against them and removed the operator from twelve.
If you sign up to a poker room from a country it does not accept, the outcome is not a polite error message. The rooms' own terms are blunt about it: the account may be closed immediately, winnings and bonuses confiscated, and only the remaining balance returned. That makes "which countries does this site actually take?" one of the more important questions on a site like this — and one we had been getting wrong.
So we read the terms. Not a summary of them, the actual pages. Here is what changed.
**GGPoker restricts more of Europe than you would guess.** Its Restricted Jurisdiction list names the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina — along with Panama, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates and Israel. All eleven were listed on this site with GGPoker as the recommended room. They no longer are.
The reason is mostly licensing rather than anything sinister: Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Romania and the Netherlands all run their own licensing regimes, and an operator without a local licence stays out. Belgium goes further and ties an online licence to a Belgian land-based venue, which keeps nearly every international room away.
Three countries on that same restricted list are still shown with GGPoker here, and deliberately: the United Kingdom, Ukraine and Canada each have a separately licensed GGPoker site, so the restriction on the international product does not apply to players there.
**WPT Global excludes Costa Rica**, which we had missed. Its Excluded Territories list also covers Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick, along with Austria, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Malta, Singapore and most of western Europe. Worth reading in full if you play there — the list also states plainly that it is "not exhaustive".
**CoinPoker's list came back clean** against every market we point at it. It excludes Belgium, Estonia, Germany, India, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, the UAE and the UK among others, and none of those are markets where we recommend it.
**Two rooms publish no list at all.** GGPoker's international entity and Natural8 both determine availability at the registration screen rather than in their terms — if your country is not in the dropdown, you are not accepted. That is honest enough, but it means those cannot be audited from the outside, and we have said so rather than assuming they are fine.
**What this means if you are in one of the twelve.** Those pages still exist and still carry the players, venues and legal position. What they no longer carry is a room we cannot stand behind. In several cases there is a locally licensed alternative — the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia and Romania all have licensed markets with operators serving them properly — and checking your national regulator's licensee register before depositing is the reliable way to find one.
