GGPoker Germany: licensed, legal and the biggest player pool available to German players
GGPoker is available in Germany through GGPoker.de, a version of the room licensed by the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) under the 2021 State Treaty on Gambling. That makes it one of the few big international poker brands German residents can play on legally, with the same global player pool that makes GGPoker the largest online poker room in the world. This guide explains what is different about the German version, how registration works, and what to expect once you sit down.
GGPoker
Home of the WSOP Online, GGPoker runs the biggest guaranteed tournaments and the busiest cash games online. Locally licensed skins (GGPoker.uk, GGPoker.de, GGPoker.nl, GGPoker.ca in Ontario) serve regulated markets.

Is GGPoker legal in Germany?
Yes. Since the Glücksspielstaatsvertrag 2021 came into force, online poker in Germany is legal only on rooms holding a GGL licence, and GGPoker.de is one of them. German players must use the .de site rather than the international .com version; if you try to register on the international site from a German address you will be redirected. The licence brings German rules with it: a cross-operator deposit limit of €1,000 per month by default (you can apply for a higher limit with proof of income), a nationwide self-exclusion register (OASIS), identity verification before your first deposit, and a 5.3% tax on stakes that operators pay and typically pass on through rake and fees. Live poker in Germany remains a matter for the state casinos (Spielbanken), which is why our Germany page lists the poker rooms in Berlin, Hamburg-Schenefeld and Dortmund alongside the online offer.
What German players get
GGPoker.de shares tables with the global GG network, so the player pool is far bigger than on any German-only site. The flagship events are the WSOP Online bracelet series every summer and the GGMillion$ weekly high roller; the daily schedule runs from micro-stakes up to four-figure buy-ins, with mystery-bounty and progressive-knockout formats alongside classic freezeouts. Cash games use GG's own software with features such as Rush & Cash fast-fold, All-In Insurance and the SnapCam. Rewards come through the Fish Buffet programme, which returns a share of rake according to your activity level. German-language support and a German cashier (bank transfer, cards, e-wallets) are standard.
Signing up from Germany
Registration takes a few minutes. Open the GGPoker.de site through the link on this page, create an account with your real name and address, and complete verification with a photo ID and, where requested, proof of address. Verification is mandatory under the German licence and happens before, not after, your first deposit. The current welcome offer for German players is applied automatically to your first deposit; read the terms, as bonuses are released in stages as you generate rake. You must be at least 18 years old.
Things to know before you deposit
German rules cap the number of tables you can play at once and prohibit some features you may know from the international site, and the €1,000 monthly limit applies across every licensed operator combined. HUDs and tracking software are not permitted on GGPoker anywhere. Winnings from poker are generally not taxed for recreational players in Germany, but regular, professional-scale play can be treated as income; if in doubt, ask a tax adviser. If gambling stops being fun, Spielen mit Verantwortung (BZgA) offers free, confidential help on 0800 137 27 00.

Frequently asked questions
Can I play GGPoker from Germany?
Yes, through GGPoker.de, which holds a German GGL licence. German residents must use the .de version rather than the international site.
Is GGPoker.de the same as GGPoker.com?
It runs on the same network with the same player pool, but under German rules: a €1,000 monthly deposit limit by default, mandatory verification before depositing, OASIS self-exclusion and a table cap.
Do I pay tax on GGPoker winnings in Germany?
Recreational winnings are generally tax-free; professional-scale play can count as taxable income. The 5.3% stake tax is paid by the operator. This is general information, not tax advice.
Which other poker rooms accept German players?
