Royal Poker Club Hanoi

Hanoi · Vietnam

A Hanoi club whose April 2024 international festival was called off — one of three in six months.

The Royal Poker Club was the venue for an Asian Poker Festival staged with the Top Joy Poker Tour in April 2024. The festival was cancelled in circumstances described as very similar to the Asian Poker Tour's decision, four months earlier, to abandon the last two days of its APT Hanoi Billions series amid allegations that it breached local gambling law.

Three in six months

APT Hanoi Billions in December 2023, this festival in April 2024, and the WPT Vietnam series at Crown Poker Club in May 2024, which the chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee was reported to have ordered cancelled over missing approvals. Whatever the individual reasons, the practical lesson for a visiting player is the same: a Vietnamese live series is not safe to book travel around until it is actually running.
