Phil Ivey is the player other professionals name when asked who the best is. Born in Riverside, California in 1977 and raised in Roselle, New Jersey, he won his first bracelet at 23 and three more in a single WSOP in 2002; by 2024 he had eleven, second only to Phil Hellmuth. He also holds two WPT titles, a 2017 Poker Hall of Fame induction, and more than $54 million in live tournament earnings as of 2026.
His largest cash came in the 2014 Aussie Millions $250,000 Challenge (A$4 million). Ivey plays every form of poker at the highest stakes — mixed games, short deck, no-limit — and remains a regular at Triton and the WSOP; his eleventh bracelet, in 2024, was in Limit 2-7 Triple Draw.
