Sam Trickett

Sam Trickett was the first British player to crack the very top of the live tournament money list, and for years the country's all-time leader. Born in 1986 in Retford, just up the road from Nottingham's Dusk Till Dawn, he was a semi-professional footballer before poker took over.
The defining result came in 2012: second place in the inaugural $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop in Las Vegas, worth $10.1 million and at the time the largest cash ever won by a European. Around it sit wins at the Partouche Poker Tour in Cannes (€1 million, 2011), the Aussie Millions $250,000 Challenge (A$2 million, 2013) and a GUKPT Luton title in 2008 that started it all.
Trickett is the honorary face of Nottingham poker and still appears at Dusk Till Dawn festivals; the club's big-ticket events are the likeliest place to find him at the table in the UK.
