Michael Greco
London, England, United Kingdom
Michael Greco left EastEnders in 2002 and did something few actors who take up poker manage: he got good at it. $1,114,297 across 55 cashes, a Grosvenor UK Poker Tour title, two third-place finishes at the World Series — this is a playing record, not a celebrity cameo.

From Albert Square to the GUKPT
Greco played Beppe di Marco in EastEnders for four years, between 1998 and 2002. His first recorded tournament cashes follow soon after, and by March 2007 he had won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour's Cardiff leg — a £1,000 No Limit Hold'em event — for £97,680. The GUKPT was then, and remains, the main domestic tour in Britain; winning a leg of it is the standard measure of a serious UK tournament player.
Two World Series third places
His biggest cash came on 11 June 2009: 3rd in a $1,500 No Limit Hold'em bracelet event at the 40th World Series of Poker, for $248,855. Three weeks later he made it to 170th in the Main Event out of a field of several thousand, for $36,626. The following summer he went one better in a different game, finishing 3rd in the $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha event at the 2010 WSOP for $129,691 — two deep bracelet runs in two different disciplines in consecutive years.
The European circuit
Greco's record runs through the European Poker Tour in its first decade: 7th in the Irish Masters Main Event at EPT Dublin in October 2005 for €39,800, 13th in the EPT Barcelona Main Event in 2009, and a cash in the EPT Grand Final at Monte Carlo in 2009. He also turned up in the televised invitational events of the era — Poker Million, the World Speed Poker Open, Monte Carlo Millions — which is how a good deal of the British public first saw him at a table.
Where the record stands
$1,114,297 puts him 3,228th on the all-time money list and 182nd among English players; his best position was 622nd, reached around the 2009-10 peak. One number stands apart from the rest: he ranks 1,046th on the Hendon Mob's popularity list, far above what his earnings alone would produce. That is the acting career showing up in the poker database.
