GGPoker in Slovenia: why no online room holds a Slovenian licence

There is no honest way to write this page as a licensing page, because there is no Slovenian licence for GGPoker or for any other online-only poker room to hold.

Slovenia does not prohibit gambling. It licenses it through a concession system that online-only operators structurally cannot enter, and the effect on a player's options is much the same as a prohibition would be. What this page can do is name the licence that does apply, and be exact about what it covers.

Why the Slovenian market is closed

Gambling in Slovenia is supervised by the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS), through its Special Financial Office, under a concession regime rather than an open licensing one. The decisive detail is that there is no standalone online gambling licence. Online operation is permitted only as an extension of an existing land-based casino or lottery concession, and the active concession holders number around five — Loterija Slovenije, Športna Loterija, the HIT Group, Casino Portorož and Casino Bled.

An operator holding a Maltese, UK, Gibraltar, Isle of Man or Curaçao licence cannot convert that into Slovenian access. The structure, not a refusal, is what keeps it out.

Does GGPoker accept Slovenian players, and under what licence?

Slovenia appears on the list of countries GGPoker's international registration accepts, read on 15 October 2026. And the international ggpoker.com platform is operated by GG International Limited, incorporated in the Isle of Man, registered office The Hubb, Queen Victoria House, Victoria Street, Douglas, IM1 2LF, licensed and regulated by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission under a licence issued under the Online Gambling Regulations Act 2001 on 15 October 2020. Isle of Man law governs the player agreement and gambling debts are enforceable there. Those details come from the operator's own terms and conditions.

Read the two together and the position is clear rather than reassuring: a Slovenian player can register, as a customer of an Isle of Man licensee, with no Slovenian concession anywhere in the picture. Registration lists are live forms that change without notice, so re-check before you act on it. And note that the GG brand covers several different companies — Germany's ggpoker.de is NSUS Malta Limited on the German whitelist, with separately licensed GG brands for the Netherlands, Ontario, the United Kingdom and Romania. Slovenia has none.

What that means if you are Slovenian

Slovenians who play online poker do so on international sites, outside the domestic concession system. Enforcement in this kind of regime is directed at operators rather than at individual players — that is the honest description of the position, and it is general information rather than legal advice.

The part worth taking seriously is what you give up. No Slovenian licence means no Slovenian regulator standing behind your balance, no local dispute process, and no domestically enforced self-exclusion scheme. The protection you do have is the Isle of Man licence named above and the operator's own record, because nothing in Slovenia is backing it up. Choose on that basis, and read the operator's terms on withdrawals and dispute resolution before you deposit rather than after.
