Chile's live poker has moved north: OSOP Prime is under way in Ovalle while Santiago waits

The one Chilean festival running this week is not in Santiago. The Ovalle Series of Poker Prime edition started on 29 September at Ovalle Casino & Resort in the Coquimbo Region, with a CLP 500,000 Main Event carrying a CLP 40,000,000 guarantee. Enjoy Santiago, long the home of the country's biggest events, currently lists no scheduled poker at all.

Chilean live poker spent years centred on Enjoy Santiago, at Rinconada de Los Andes about 66 km outside the capital, which hosted the Enjoy Poker League and the country's largest festivals. That has changed. Activity at the venue was reduced through 2025, with fewer dates and less continuity, and as of 29 September 2026 its calendar shows no upcoming tournaments. Chilean players openly expect the league and the regular Raider events to come back; nothing is scheduled yet.

In the meantime the centre of gravity has shifted roughly 400 km north. Ovalle Casino & Resort, in the Limarí valley of the Coquimbo Region, created its own series — the Ovalle Series of Poker — explicitly to build a competitive circuit outside Santiago, and the Prime edition running from 29 September to 4 October is its second of the season after an August edition with roughly USD 88,000 guaranteed.

The headline numbers: a CLP 500,000 Main Event with a CLP 40,000,000 guarantee across three starting flights on 1 and 2 October, a CLP 1,000,000 High Roller guaranteeing CLP 20,000,000 on 3 October, and a CLP 250,000 Mystery Bounties event guaranteeing CLP 5,000,000. The organiser notes that the Main Event's starting stack and late-registration cut-off are still to be confirmed because its published rules disagree with each other, so those two details are worth checking on arrival. Every OSOP entry also requires free OCR Club membership, registered in person at the casino.

For a country that has six players past a million dollars in recorded live earnings but almost no regular live calendar, a house-run series in a regional city is a notable development — and, for now, the only live poker in Chile with dates attached. Poker is entertainment, not an income; play only what you can afford to lose.
