Hong Kong's main poker club rebuilds its site — and spells out that nothing of value is played for

Asia Poker Academy has replaced its per-event pages with a single monthly schedule, dropped every published fee, renamed its Wednesday mixed-game night and added an unusually blunt statement: its tournaments award no cash, no cash equivalents, no prizes and no prize pools, and the chips are scorekeeping with no monetary or exchange value.

Asia Poker Academy, which runs the regular tournament week at Hub 239 in Wan Chai, has rebuilt its website. The per-event pages that carried its weekly schedule until October now return a 404, replaced by a single monthly calendar with a structure selector beside it.

The practical changes are easy to list. The Wednesday night is no longer "Bad Beat Wednesday" but "Big Bets Wednesday", a rotating big-bet and mixed-game slot — Big O on 4 November 2026, a fixed-limit Triple Draw Mix on the 11th, R-O-S-E-T on the 18th — and it is the one regular event with no published level chart. The Thursday deepstack is billed as "Amusing Thursday". Saturday is still a double, Classic at 14:00 and Turbo at 19:00, and Sunday is too, a Super Stack at 14:00 and a Night Challenge at 19:00 alternating Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha. Happy Tuesday keeps its 19:00 slot, and its structure, versioned 17 October 2026, publishes the full blind and ante ladder: 25,000 starting score, levels of 15 then 10 minutes, a break from 21:45 to 22:00 and registration closing at the end of it.

The more interesting change is what the site now says about money. Two things have gone and one has arrived.

Gone are the fees. The old per-event pages priced the events as drink fees — HK$500 for the Saturday Classic, HK$280 for the Turbo and for Happy Tuesday, HK$200 for the Wednesday — and sold the Saturday pair as a combined entry. The rebuilt schedule publishes no figure of any kind for any event, and no combined booking.

Arrived is a statement considerably firmer than the "mainly for academic exchanges" wording APA used before. The schedule now says its experience events award no cash, no cash equivalents, no prizes and no prize pools whatsoever; that the chips and score codes used are tools for tracking the progress of the tournament rather than currency; and that they carry no monetary or exchange value and cannot be transferred, cashed out or exchanged for goods or services. It adds that published structures are indicative, and that the levels, breaks and registration cutoffs actually used are whatever APA publishes for the month and whatever the floor announces on the night.

Why a club would write that so plainly is not hard to work out. Hong Kong licenses no casino and no commercial poker room, and the territory's own position is that gambling outside a narrow set of permitted activities is unlawful. A venue running a weekly tournament calendar in that environment has a strong reason to be explicit that it is running practice games with no stake and no payout, and the rebuilt site reads like a document written with that in mind.

For a visiting player the upshot is simple enough. The schedule is real, it is busier than before, and the structures are published in more detail than most clubs bother with — but there is no prize to play for, and there is no longer a published price either, so the club itself is the only place to ask what a seat costs. The last week of November belongs to the Road to OLA Poker Tour, an OLA Poker Tour and APA series running 24 to 29 November 2026 with Main Event flights on the 27th and 28th, which displaces most of the regular week and is listed under the same no-cash framework.

This is general information about what the club publishes, not legal advice.
