GG Poker now sits in Alberta's own iGaming operator register, ten days before the transition period ends

Alberta's regulator publishes a searchable list of everyone registered to supply or operate gambling in the province, and as of 3 October 2026 it carries an entry for GG International Limited, trading as GG Poker, in the class "iGaming - Operator" with a registration expiry of 12 August 2027. That is the same class of registration held by Play Alberta, BetMGM Canada, FanDuel Canada and Bally's Canada. It matters because Alberta's regulated online market opened on 13 July 2026 with a transition period that ends on 13 October 2026, after which the province's position on unlicensed sites serving Albertans changes.

Alberta opened a regulated online gambling market on 13 July 2026, and attached to it a transition period that runs out on 13 October 2026. Until now the open question for anyone writing about poker in Alberta has been which poker operators would come through that door, and the answer has been hard to pin down because most reporting describes registrations rather than citing the register.

The register itself is public. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis publishes a Gaming Registrants list covering every registered casino, supplier, gaming worker supplier and iGaming participant in the province, with each entry's stream, class of registration and expiry date. Read on 3 October 2026, it returns 42 entries in the class "iGaming - Operator". One of them is GG International Limited, shown as trading as GG Poker, with a registration expiry of 12 August 2027.

That places GG Poker in the same registration class as the Crown channel Play Alberta and as BetMGM Canada Inc., FanDuel Canada ULC, Bally's Canada Inc., Rush Street Interactive Canada ULC, Score Media & Gaming, Stake Canada Ltd. and Kaizen Gaming Canada. Two Alberta land-based casino groups appear in the same class under their own online entities, Pure Casino Entertainment Limited Partnership and River Cree iGaming Limited Partnership — the latter being the online arm of the group that runs the largest live poker room in the Edmonton area.

What the register does not show is equally worth stating. No entity recognisable as WPT Global or ClubWPT appears in the iGaming operator class, and nor does PokerStars. Pure Casino's own online site, play.purecasino.ca, presents itself as an Alberta online casino rather than a poker room.

Two cautions. First, a registration in a regulator's list is a statement about who is registered in which class, and it is not the same thing as a launched product with poker tables running: the register records status, not availability. Second, an expiry date of 12 August 2027 implies a registration dated a year earlier, which is consistent with GG having registered in August 2026 — during the transition period rather than after it. What happens on and after 13 October, when that period ends, is the thing to watch, and the register is where it will show up first.

This is general information about a public register, not legal advice. Anyone deciding where it is lawful for them to play should read the regulator's own material and, where the stakes warrant it, take advice.

Alberta's public Gaming Registrants list, read on 3 October 2026, shows GG International Limited trading as GG Poker in the class "iGaming - Operator" with an expiry of 12 August 2027. A registration in that class is what the register records; it is not by itself confirmation that a poker product is live and available to Albertans. This is general information, not legal advice.

What happens on 13 October 2026?

Alberta's regulated online market opened on 13 July 2026 with a transition period that ends on 13 October 2026, after which the province's treatment of unlicensed sites serving Albertans changes. The register is the first place any change in an operator's status would appear.
