The Grand Prix de Paris
The Rendez Vous à Paris festival ran a €10,000 Grand Prix de Paris as its headline event, and Ma won the 2007 edition on 6 May for €422,560 — $574,068. He returned the following May and finished 10th in the same event for $30,617, which is the only other European result on his sheet.
Macau, and then almost nothing
In September 2008 he took 6th in the HK$150,000 High Rollers Event on the Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Macau for $64,042 — a serious buy-in for the period and his second-biggest cash. After a 2010 World Series cash the record effectively stops.
Six cashes totalling $685,015 is the profile of someone who played a short, successful run of large events rather than a career. He ranks 216th among Canadian players and 5,527th globally, down from a best of 593rd reached straight after the Paris win.
