Jamil Wakil

Jamil Wakil is the highest-placed Canadian on the all-time money list who has not yet become a household name outside the high-roller circuit. He sits 16th among Canadians with $7,289,188 in recorded live earnings, and the detail that matters most about him is that his current global position, 313th, is also the best he has ever held: unlike most players in this range of the list, Wakil is at the peak of his career right now rather than coasting on results from a decade ago. His Global Poker Index ranking of 81st says the same thing in a different way.

The run that took him there came on the super-high-roller circuit rather than at the World Series. He finished runner-up in the $10,000 + 400 GG Million$ at the Onyx Super High Roller Series in Kyrenia, Cyprus on 9 August 2025 for $650,000, and eight days later took third in the $50,000 + 1,000 ONYX Championship at the same festival for $585,000. In March 2026 he added a third place in the $25,000 + 1,500 Jupiter Event at the Triton Super High Roller Series in Jeju, South Korea, worth $632,000. His single best recorded cash stands at $670,000.

Born in St. Catharines, Ontario and now resident in Toronto, Wakil passed the $7,000,000 career milestone during this stretch.
