Commerce Casino, a few miles south-east of downtown Los Angeles, is the largest cardroom in California by licensed capacity and is widely described as the largest in the world. The state register records licence GEGE-001093 authorising 374 gambling tables, a figure matched only by Hawaiian Gardens Casino; it covers every card game the licence permits, player-banked poker and California-style banked card games together, so it is higher than the number of poker tables in play on any given day. The licence was shown as an Interim Renewal Licence with conditions when we read the register on 6 October 2026, expiring 31 March 2027 — an interim renewal is the normal administrative state while the Commission works through a renewal application. The room opened in 1983, runs around the clock, and anchors its calendar on the LA Poker Classic from January to March, whose main event is a long-running World Poker Tour stop.

The LA Poker Classic from January to March, with a World Poker Tour main event, plus the California State Poker Championship in May, the Commerce Hold'em Series in September and the LA Poker Open in November.

Can I play online poker in California?

California has no regulated real-money online poker. Sweepstakes rooms such as ClubWPT Gold are available to California residents. See our California page.
