Bay 101 is the poker room of Silicon Valley. The state register records licence GEGE-000989 authorising 49 gambling tables, listed as Active on 6 October 2026 and expiring 31 July 2027; that total covers poker and California-style banked card games together. Casino M8trix across town sits at the same licensed figure, which reflects San Jose's city limits on cardroom size rather than any coincidence. The cardroom traces its roots to Sutter's Club, founded in 1929, took its current name in 1994 when the Bumb family moved it beside Highway 101 in north San Jose, and opened a purpose-built complex on the neighbouring site in September 2017. It is best known for the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star, created in 1997 and the only bounty-format main event on the World Poker Tour, where seated pros carry cash bounties on their heads.
