Most tournament series treat mixed games as a side dish. Big Poker Oktober's Mixed Game Championship makes them the structure: each of its four Day 1 flights is played in a different format, and the survivors meet in a T.O.R.S.E final day.

The four Day 1 formats
All four start at noon and cost $400:
- **21 October — Day 1A, E/O.** Eight-or-better, the split-pot stud and draw family that rewards reading low boards. - **22 October — Day 1B, T.O.R.S.E.** The five-game rotation built from triple draw, Omaha, razz, stud and eight-or-better. - **23 October — Day 1C, Limit Triple Draw.** Three draw variants in rotation: A-5, 2-7 and Badugi. - **24 October — Day 1D, H.E.R.O.S.** Hold'em, Omaha, razz, stud and eight-or-better in sequence.
Day 2
Day 2 is on 25 October at 11am and is played as T.O.R.S.E, with a $1,200 entry for anyone coming in directly. A $150 Flip & Go on 25 October awards a Day 2 seat for the event.
Why this schedule is unusual
California's cardrooms are overwhelmingly hold'em and Omaha houses. A five-day mixed-game championship with four different qualifying formats is closer to what the mixed-game community travels to Las Vegas for, and it is the single most distinctive block on any Californian calendar this autumn.
