WPT Global's excluded-territories list now names Costa Rica and Venezuela
A re-read of WPT Global's public terms on 28 October 2026 found Costa Rica and Venezuela on the Excluded Territories list in clause 2.5.2 — neither was on the list when we last recorded it on 15 October 2026. Central America's three thinnest markets, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, remain absent from the list and can still register.
WPT Global publishes the countries it will not accept players from in clause 2.5.2 of its terms and conditions, under four headings: high-risk or monitored jurisdictions, countries where online gambling is strictly prohibited, countries its service providers classify as critical or high risk, and a miscellaneous category. The operator states in terms that the list is not exhaustive and that it may be amended at its sole discretion, and it tells players it is their duty to re-check.
We read the list again on 28 October 2026 and found two entries that were not in our previous record of 15 October 2026: Costa Rica and Venezuela. Costa Rica is a notable addition, because the same terms give the operator's registered address as Province 01 San Jose, Canton 02 Escazu, San Rafael, Costa Rica — so the operator is now established in a country from which it declines to accept players. Venezuela matters to us for a different reason: our Venezuelan pages were built out earlier the same day, with YaPoker rather than WPT Global as the market's primary room, so the exclusion does not contradict anything we publish for the country.
The list as read also carried Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick by name alongside the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most of the licensed European markets — Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden — together with Hong Kong, India, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Turkey, and a long tail of Caribbean and French overseas territories including Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Sint Maarten, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Reunion.
What the list does not carry is any Central American country other than Costa Rica. Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are all absent, which is the practical reason WPT Global is the room we list first in each of them — three markets where, for different reasons, a live poker game is hard or legally impossible to find. Guatemala has no gambling statute and no regulator at all; Honduras licenses casinos under a 1977 law that forbids them from admitting any player who cannot prove foreign nationality with a passport; El Salvador regulates lotteries, sports betting and online games through the Loteria Nacional de Beneficencia but does not cover casinos in that framework.
Because the operator reserves the right to amend the list at any time, a reading has a short shelf life. Players should check clause 2.5.2 themselves before depositing, and we re-read it quarterly.
