WPT Global's excluded-territories list now names Costa Rica and Venezuela
A re-read of WPT Global's own terms and conditions on 29 October 2026 found Costa Rica and Venezuela on the operator's excluded-territories list, along with Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Puerto Rico. None of those appeared when we read the same clause on 15 October. The clause states the list may be amended at any time and is not exhaustive, which is exactly how a change like this arrives — without an announcement.
WPT Global sets out the places it will not accept players from in clause 2.5 of its terms and conditions, under the heading Excluded territories. We re-read that clause directly on 29 October 2026 and compared it with our note from 15 October. Two Latin American markets have been added: Costa Rica and Venezuela. So have several Caribbean territories — Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Puerto Rico.
The current list, as read, runs: Alberta, Afghanistan, American Samoa, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bonaire, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, China, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Congo-Kinshasa, Curaçao, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, French Guiana, French Polynesia, the French Southern Territories, Germany, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guam, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Myanmar, North Korea, the Netherlands, New Brunswick, New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, Northern Ireland, the Northern Mariana Islands, Ontario, the Philippines, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Réunion, Romania, Russia, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Sint Maarten, Singapore, Slovakia, Somalia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States Minor Outlying Islands, the United States, Uzbekistan, Vatican City, Venezuela, the Virgin Islands, Wallis and Futuna, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
Costa Rica sits out of alphabetical order, between Cyprus and Czechia, which is usually the signature of a recent insertion rather than a long-standing entry.
What this changes for readers in those two countries is simple: an account cannot be opened with this operator from there, whatever any third-party list says. What it changes for anyone else is a reminder about how these lists work. The clause itself says the list is not exhaustive, that it may be amended at any time at the operator's sole discretion, and that keeping track of it is the player's own responsibility. There is no notification mechanism. A market that was eligible a fortnight ago can stop being eligible without anything being published about it, which is why the only version that matters is the one live on the day you register.
Two markets we checked in the same read are not affected. Neither the Dominican Republic nor Ecuador appears on the list, so WPT Global remains open to players in both as of 29 October 2026. We do not treat that as a statement about either country's domestic law, which is a separate question with a separate answer.
This is general information rather than legal advice, and the operator's own terms are the authority on its own eligibility rules.
