We mapped every card room in Britain. One company owns almost all of them
Thirty-three of Britain's casino poker rooms belong to Grosvenor. Genting, the other big chain, has quietly stopped spreading poker almost everywhere — except Stratford, which calls itself the biggest room in the country. Here is what the map actually looks like.
We have spent two runs putting every British casino poker room on the site, and the finished map is more concentrated than we expected.
**Grosvenor has 33 card rooms**, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, and they are now all published here with addresses and phone numbers. That network is the British live scene in almost every town that has one: Cardiff is the only poker room in Wales, Plymouth the only one in the far south west, Aberdeen the most northerly in the country. It also carries the whole festival calendar — the GUKPT, Goliath at Coventry (the largest live tournament outside Las Vegas), the UK Open, Behemoth, the G300 and G200, and the National Poker League leaderboard that ties the small rooms to the big ones.
**Genting, the other major chain, has largely left live poker.** We checked: its central games page offers only three-card poker as a table game, its Manchester venue lists three-card poker and baccarat, and Resorts World Birmingham — one of the largest casinos in the country — does not mention poker at all.
With one striking exception. **Genting Casino Stratford**, in Westfield on the Olympic Park, describes itself as home to the biggest poker room in Britain, running tournament and cash games seven days a week, a monthly London Super Deep Stack, and visiting series including the British Poker Series and the Prestige Poker Series. It was Aspers Westfield until the rebrand; aspers.co.uk now redirects to Genting. It is the one serious alternative to The Vic in London, and on its own account bigger.
That leaves the British map as: Grosvenor almost everywhere, Stratford as the largest single room, and Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham — 45 tables, host of the WSOP Circuit UK and the UK Poker Championships — as the significant independent.
For a country that produced Stephen Chidwick, Ben Heath and two of the last decade's biggest online winners, the live infrastructure is narrower than the results suggest. It is worth knowing which room you are actually walking into, and every one of them now has a page here.
