Peru blocks 50 more unlicensed betting and gaming sites, 86 so far this year
Peru's trade ministry has blocked 50 more online gaming and sports betting platforms that were serving Peruvian players without authorisation, taking the year's total to 86 of 157 it intends to block. The enforcement runs through MINCETUR's Dirección General de Juegos de Casino y Máquinas Tragamonedas, working with the transport and communications ministry, under Ley N° 31557, the law that brought remote gaming and betting under licence in Peru.
The state gazette El Peruano reported the action on 2 October 2026. Alongside the domain blocks, the ministry says it has removed game content and payment methods tied to unauthorised sites, which it credits with cutting the illegal online supply by more than half, and that it keeps a watchlist of roughly 2,000 domains drawn from lists of illegal operators published by authorities in other countries.
The land-based side of the same enforcement push is larger than the headline: 5,195 inspections of slot and casino halls, 4,572 inspections of platforms and betting venues, 17 sports betting venues and 10 slot halls closed, and equipment seized at a clandestine venue in Chilca, Junín, in an operation with the national police and the public prosecutor's office.
For players the practical point is the licensing line. Remote gaming and sports betting in Peru require authorisation from MINCETUR under Ley N° 31557, and the ministry is actively blocking sites that operate without it; the gazette also notes that under the Penal Code, promoting or taking part in illegal gambling carries a range of one to four years. This is general information about how the Peruvian regime is being enforced, not legal advice, and the report gives no figures for how many operators now hold a licence.
