MGM Resorts will no longer take other casinos' poker chips
A notice on the Bellagio poker room's page tells players that MGM Resorts no longer accepts poker chips from other operators, and that MGM chips earned in poker play will not be accepted elsewhere. Cash out before you leave the property.
For decades, moving between Las Vegas poker rooms with a rack of someone else's chips was a minor convenience the casinos tolerated. The Bellagio poker room's own page now says that has ended on the MGM side: MGM Resorts will not accept poker chips from other operators, and chips earned in MGM poker play will not be accepted by other operators.
The practical advice on the page is simply to redeem chips before leaving. For a player moving between the Bellagio, Aria and the non-MGM rooms in a single trip, that means a trip to the cage at each stop rather than a pocketful of chips carried down the Strip.
The same notice appears alongside the room's current game list, which is worth a look in its own right: the Bellagio advertises the only medium-to-high-limit fixed-limit hold'em games in Las Vegas, a pot-limit Omaha double board bomb pot nightly at 6 pm, and a $10/$20 no-limit hold'em game with buy-ins from $2,000 to $10,000, a $20 ante and $3 an hour in comps. Waitlist calls are taken up to an hour before arrival, or two hours at peak times.
