We finished the German poker map. The best room in the country is the one nobody talks about

Two runs and twenty-eight German casinos later, the map is done. Wiesbaden turns out to publish terms no other German room comes close to — and two entire federal states have no live poker at all.

Last week we read every Bavarian state casino and Merkur's North Rhine-Westphalia group. This week we finished the job: Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg and Saxony. Twenty-eight German casinos now have pages on this site. Three findings are worth pulling out.

**Wiesbaden is the best poker room in Germany, on its own published numbers.** It calls itself a Pokerhochburg and the claim holds up. Cash games run seven days a week on five to eight tables from 18:00 — no other German casino we checked publishes more than two. It deals four variants: Hold'em, Omaha, Seven Card Stud and Draw Poker.

The rake is the part that should make players move. Wiesbaden charges a flat €2 per pot at €2/€4 and €5 per pot at €5/€10, no flop no drop, and **it does not escalate**. Everywhere else in Germany the Taxe climbs with the pot — the Bavarian houses take €10 above a €200 pot and €20 above €500. On top of that, Wiesbaden charges no tournament entry fee at all: 100% of every buy-in goes into the prize pool, against €10 to €30 registration fees as standard elsewhere. For a regular, that gap is worth more than any bonus offer.

**Two federal states have no live poker whatsoever.** All three Merkur casinos in Saxony-Anhalt — Halle, Leuna and Magdeburg — deal only Heads-Up Hold'em against the house. Saxony is blunter still: its operator says poker there is played against the bank *in the slot section*. We have published both as explicit negatives, because a player searching "Poker Magdeburg" deserves an answer rather than a page that implies a card room.

The same pattern runs through Lower Saxony, where only four of ten casinos spread poker between players — Hannover, Braunschweig, Bad Zwischenahn and Osnabrück. One quirk worth knowing before you drive: the minimum age there is 21, not the 18 that applies in the rest of Germany.

**The rarest game in the country is in a spa town of 28,000 people.** Bad Zwischenahn, near Oldenburg, deals Pot Limit **Seven Card Stud** every Thursday at 19:30 with a €200 buy-in. A scheduled Stud game has all but vanished from European casinos and this is the only one we found in Germany. Omaha is easier to find but still scarce — fixed nights at Bad Kissingen, Braunschweig, Hannover and Casino Esplanade in Hamburg, whose entire published poker offer is a single Wednesday Omaha game.

**And the championships.** Germany has two state-level poker titles, both alive. Bavaria's SBPM final runs at Feuchtwangen from 23 to 25 October 2026 with €100,000 guaranteed. Baden-Württemberg's ran in January 2026 at Baden-Baden — 196 players, 42 re-entries, €357,000 in the pool, €71,000 to a winner playing under a pseudonym — with the next edition planned for 2027.

Every figure here comes from the casinos' own pages, read on 15 September 2026, and several operators note their details are published without guarantee.
