Florida's 2026-27 cardroom register: 62 tables at Pompano, one each at Gulfstream and Jennings, and a licence that runs out at New Year
The Florida Gaming Control Commission has posted the cardroom licences for the year to 30 June 2027, and read as a set they are the clearest picture available of where the state's licensed poker capacity actually sits. Thirty pari-mutuel facilities hold one, and the table ceilings run from 62 down to a single table. Volusia County alone is licensed for 118 tables across two rooms — more than any single cardroom in South Florida — while two licences authorise one table each, which is what a permit kept alive looks like rather than a room worth travelling to. One licence, The Big Easy Casino's, is written to expire on 31 December 2026 instead of the usual June date.
Florida publishes its pari-mutuel operating licences facility by facility, and the 2026-2027 set is now up. Thirty facilities hold a cardroom licence for the year, with a thirty-first document covering a second licence against the St Petersburg permit. Every certificate cites the same authority — the Florida Pari-Mutuel Wagering Act, section 849.086, Florida Statutes — and every one states a maximum number of tables.
That table ceiling is the number worth reading. It is a cap, not a count of what was dealt last night, but across thirty rooms it maps the state's licensed capacity better than any room-by-room marketing page.
Where the tables are licensed
Harrah's Pompano Beach, licensed to PPI, Inc. against a harness permit, carries the largest ceiling in the register at 62 tables — consistent with a venue that hosts WSOP Circuit stops. Behind it come two rooms most national coverage skips: Orange City Racing and Card Club at 60 tables and Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club at 58. Both sit in Volusia County, which is therefore licensed for 118 cardroom tables between Orlando and the coast, more than any single South Florida room.
The rest of the upper half is spread wide: Melbourne Greyhound Park 38, Bonita Springs Poker Room 37, Oxford Downs at Summerfield 35, OcalaBetS 33, and Hialeah Park Racing & Casino and One-Eyed Jack's in Sarasota both at 32. The Big Easy Casino in Hallandale Beach has 30, Card House Port St. Lucie 24, and Casino Miami and Pensacola Greyhound Racing 20 each.
The one-table licences
At the bottom the register tells a different story. Calder Casino in Miami Gardens is licensed for 8 tables. Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, a few miles away in Hallandale Beach, is licensed for exactly one. So is StateLine Bets at Hamilton Downs in Jennings, up on the Georgia line.
A one-table cardroom licence is not a poker room. It is a permit held current, and it is a useful corrective to directory listings that treat every licensed address as a place to find a game.
The December expiry
Almost every cardroom licence in the set runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. The licence for facility 141, held by 831 Federal Highway Acquisition Holding, LLC and trading as The Big Easy Casino, is written to expire on 31 December 2026 instead. A second cardroom licence, for facility 144, is held at the same Hallandale Beach address by the similarly named 831 Federal Highway Acquisition, LLC. Whatever sits behind that — a licence transfer between the two entities, or a shorter term for another reason — anyone planning a trip there after the new year should check the room is still operating.
What the register does not cover
Two gaps matter. First, the register covers pari-mutuel cardrooms only. Florida's tribal poker rooms — Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa and Hollywood, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek — are licensed under the Seminole Compact, not section 849.086, and do not appear here at all. Any count of "licensed Florida poker rooms" drawn from this register alone understates the state.
Second, a cardroom licence says nothing about which games run. Florida rooms commonly spread player-versus-player Hold'em and Omaha alongside designated-player games with poker in the name — Ultimate Texas Hold'em, Three Card Poker, High Card Flush — that are banked rather than played against the table. Magic City Casino in Miami lists both groups on the same page, and the distinction is the whole difference between a cash game and a house edge.
One oddity for the follow-up file: West Flagler Associates, Ltd, which operates Magic City, appears on the Commission's 2026-2027 page with operating licences against three permits but no cardroom licence document posted — while Magic City's own poker page advertises live Hold'em and Omaha. The likeliest explanation is a document not yet published rather than a room without a licence, but it is not something to assume either way.

Frequently asked questions
Which Florida cardroom is licensed for the most tables?
Harrah's Pompano Beach, at 62 tables, in the 2026-2027 pari-mutuel register. Tribal poker rooms are licensed separately under the Seminole Compact and are not in that register.
Does a cardroom licence mean a poker room is open?
No. The licence sets a maximum number of tables. Gulfstream Park and StateLine Bets are each licensed for a single table, which indicates a permit kept current rather than a working poker room.
