Turn

The fourth community card, dealt after the flop betting is complete, followed by its own betting round. It is also called fourth street.

Because it is where the pot becomes big enough that mistakes are expensive, with one card still to come. Draws have halved in value compared to the flop, and the decision to put in a second barrel largely determines the size of the river pot.

Ranges are much narrower than on the flop, so sizing tends to get larger and continuation frequencies lower. A turn bet usually represents a genuine hand — which is also why a well-chosen turn bluff is one of the most profitable plays in no-limit.
