Frequently asked questions
What does no-limit mean in poker?
That you can bet any amount from the minimum up to your whole stack, on any betting round. Table stakes still applies — you can only wager the chips in front of you.
Is there any minimum in no-limit?
Yes. A bet must be at least the big blind, and a raise must increase by at least the size of the previous bet or raise — so facing a bet of 100, the minimum raise is to 200. Going all in for less than a minimum raise is always allowed.
How are no-limit stakes described?
By the blinds: 1/2, 2/5, 5/10. Buy-ins are usually capped at a multiple of the big blind, commonly 100, so the stack depth rather than the blind level is what really determines how the game plays.
