Min-raise
The smallest legal raise: at least the size of the previous bet or raise. A min-raise on the flop or turn, especially online where it takes one click, is nicknamed a 'min-click' or 'click back' and is often either a monster or a probe.
Frequently asked questions
What is a min-raise in poker?
The smallest legal raise — matching the previous bet and raising by the same amount again. Facing a bet of 100, the minimum raise is to 200.
Is min-raising bad?
Often, because it gives opponents a cheap price to continue while telling them you have something. The exception is that it can be correct with very short stacks, as a thin-value bet, or in preflop spots where a small open size is standard.
What is the minimum raise before the flop?
Twice the big blind when no one has raised — and after a raise, the increment must be at least as large as the last raise. Under-raising is not permitted; a player who puts out too little is either required to complete the raise or has their chips treated as a call, depending on house rules.
