GPI (Global Poker Index)

A rolling ranking of live tournament players based on results over the previous three years, weighted by field size and buy-in. The GPI's number one is the closest thing poker has to a world ranking, and its annual Player of the Year race is the sport's season title.

Example. Ole Schemion was GPI world number one in January 2015.
