Poker term
Flight
One of several starting days of a large tournament (Day 1A, 1B, 1C and so on). Survivors of every flight combine on Day 2. Some events allow players who bust one flight to re-enter another.
Frequently asked questions
What is a flight in a poker tournament?
One of several Day 1 sessions — labelled Day 1A, 1B, 1C and so on — that all feed into a single Day 2. Survivors of each flight combine.
Does it matter which flight you play?
Sometimes. Later flights often draw bigger, softer fields and recreational players, while earlier ones are quieter. Some events let you play multiple flights and carry forward only your best stack — a 'best stack forward' format.
