Poker term
Bounty
A cash prize paid for knocking a specific player out of a tournament. In a knockout event every player carries a bounty; in a progressive knockout (PKO) half of each bounty you collect is added to your own head.
Frequently asked questions
How does a bounty tournament work?
Part of every entry goes into a bounty on that player's head rather than the main prize pool. Knock them out and you collect it immediately.
Should you call wider in a bounty event?
Yes, when the player is all-in and you can win the bounty. The bounty is extra equity available only if you eliminate them, so marginal calls become correct — but only against the covered stack.
