Betsson is licensed in Denmark, and the Danish Gambling Authority's register says exactly who holds the licence and what it permits — which turns out to be the interesting part, because Denmark classifies poker licences in a way that catches people out.

Why "Online casino" is the poker licence in Denmark

Spillemyndigheden's register lists a licence class called **Public poker tournament** — and it belongs to land-based card rooms, not to websites. Aalborg Poker Room, Cardroom Esbjerg, Poker København, Randers Card Room, Fredericia Poker Klub, Horsens Poker Klub, Poker Bornholm and Casino Næstved all hold it. No online operator does.

So where does online poker sit? Under **Online casino**. The register settles this without ambiguity: Reel Denmark Limited, the licensee behind pokerstars.dk, holds exactly two classes — Online casino and Betting — and pokerstars.dk is plainly an online poker site. 888 Denmark Limited is listed the same way, with 888poker.dk among its domains and Online casino, Betting as its classes.

Betsson holds the same two classes. That means Denmark's online casino licence is the permission that would cover poker on betsson.dk; it does not, by itself, tell you that a poker client is running there. The register licenses a category, not a product. If poker specifically is what you want, check the lobby before you register, because a Danish online casino licence is satisfied just as well by slots and live dealer tables.

Nordic Spil Limited is a Maltese company, and the register gives its address as Experience Centre, Ta' Xbiex Seafront, XBX 1027 Ta' Xbiex, Malta.
